From the beginning of its history, excellence in education and lifelong learning have been a top priority in developing The Woodlands. The Woodlands offers exceptional educational experiences for people of all ages, including:
- Excellent Public Education – The Woodlands is served by three highly-rated school districts – Conroe, Tomball and Magnolia. All of the elementary schools serving students in The Woodlands are rated Exemplary by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Twenty neighborhood schools of all grade levels are located within The Woodlands.
- Six Acclaimed Private Schools, including The John Cooper School, The Woodlands Christian Academy, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School and Cunae International.
- Lone Star College-Montgomery – located on a forested 100-acre campus on College Park Drive in The Woodlands, Lone Star College-Montgomery offers associates degree program in a variety of disciplines. Other opportunities include:
- Improving or updating workplace skills
- Continuing education
- The Academy for Lifelong Learning provides continuing education for seniors

Lone Star College – University Center
A unique alliance of three major Texas universities – Texas A&M, Sam Houston State and Texas Southern, The University Center is conveniently located on the Montgomery College campus. The following programs are provided:
- Undergraduate and graduate degree programs in several fields of study
- Continuing education opportunities, including post baccalaureate teaching certification
